Civil Ceremony I Prince of Wales Package
Presentation of the Bride: (Optional)
Officiant: Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
Bride’s Father (or chosen escort): I do. (Or: Her mother and I.)
(Bride's father places the Bride’s hand in Groom's hand and takes his seat.)
Welcome:
Officiant: Welcome ____(Bride)_________ and ____(Groom)_______. And to your bridal party and to all of your family and friends gathered here, welcome to the wedding of ___(Bride)_______ and ____(Groom)_______:
Officiant: We are gathered here in the presence of these witnesses, to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony; which is an honorable estate, revered since time immemorial as the most profound and tender of human relationships.
Officiant: ___(Groom)_____ and ___(Bride)_____ in presenting yourselves here today to be joined in this holy union, you perform an act of faith. This faith can grow and mature and endure, but only if you both determine to make it so. A lasting and growing love is never automatic, nor guaranteed by any ceremony. Devotion, joy and love can grow, only if you nurture them together. Stand fast in that hope and confidence, believing in your shared future just as strongly as you believe in yourselves and in each other today. Only in this spirit, can you create a partnership that will strengthen and sustain you all the days of your lives.
Reading/Prayer: (Optional)
(Choice of reading/prayer.)
Musical Selection: (Optional)
Exchange of Vows: (Choice of vows or the ones below.)
Officiant (To couple): Will you please join hands.
Officiant: The step which you are about to take is the most important into which human beings can come. It is a union of two people founded upon mutual respect and affection. Your lives will change, your responsibilities will increase, but your joy will be multiplied if you are sincere and earnest with your pledge to one another.
Officiant: ___(Groom)_____, will you have this woman to be your wedded wife, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, and forsaking all others, keep you only unto her, for so long as you both shall live?
Groom: I will.
Officiant: ___(Bride)_____, will you have this man to be your wedded husband, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, and forsaking all others, keep you only unto him, so long as you both shall live?
Bride: I will.
Prelude to Ring Exchange (Blessing of Rings): (Optional)
Officiant: May I have the rings, please?
Officiant: These rings are a symbol of unity into which your two lives are now joined in an unbroken circle. Bless these rings which you give and receive this day. They are symbols of the circle of shared love into which you enter together as husband and wife.
The Exchange of Rings: (Choice of Ring Ceremony or the one below.)
Officiant: ___(Groom)_____, will you give your ring to ___(Bride)____ and repeat after me: I give you this ring as a reminder of the promises we exchanged today.
(Groom places ring on Bride’s finger.)
Officiant: ___(Bride)_____, will you give your ring to ___(Groom)____ and repeat after me: I give you this ring as a reminder of the promises we exchanged today.
